This course provides a summary and basic examination of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services goals for Value-Based Payments and Advanced Alternative Payment Models (Advanced APM’s) which link quality or value to the Medicare Fee-for-Service payment models.
The alternative payment models are being designed to streamline current quality reporting programs into flexible and meaningful activities for Medicare clinicians, that will compare resources used to treat similar care episodes and clinical condition groups, measure clinical practice improvement activities, provide financial incentives or penalties, while advancing the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and facilitating innovation
At the conclusion of this course, the participant will have a basic understanding to identify and explain the following quality improvement and incentives set forth by Medicare to:
Define at the three (3) former quality and value reporting programs
Identify the four (4) measurement metrics of the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) Identify a minimum of six (6) objectives of the Advancing Care Information Performance Category Calculate at least three (3) scoring techniques based on performance categories and weighted scores to demonstrate familiarity with the MIPS Composite Performance Score. Describe a minimum of three (3) clinical practice improvement activities and how they are utilized to improve patient outcomes Identify a minimum of four (4) individual or group reporting requirements for data submission is just the beginning!
